The Cincinnati Children’s Choir is an educationally based choral ensemble program. Participants learn healthy vocal technique, sight-reading, music history and music theory while experiencing performance excellence using the philosophies and techniques of Carl Orff, Zoltan Kodaly, Jacques Dalcroze and Jerome Brunner. The learning environment is creative, explorative and fun. The children form lasting relationships with children outside of their community and develop a lifelong appreciation of music.

The Choirs:

BEL CANTO CHOIR, CCC’s primary touring choir, is a highly advanced ensemble for young singers in grades 5-12. The choir maintains a prestigious performance schedule. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.

CINCINNATI GIRL CHOIR, CCC's touring chamber ensemble for girls in grades 10-12, performs advanced repertoire and is designed for those with excellent vocal technique and reading skills. Rehearsals are on Thursdays 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.

CINCINNATI YOUNG MENS CHOIR (YMC) is for boys with changed or changing voices. Participants will enhance healthy vocal habits and musicianship skills. YMC will occastionally share repertoire with the Girl Choir. Rehearsals are on Thursdays 5:45 - 7:00 p.m.

CON BRIO - CCC’s ensemble for intermediate and advanced singers in grades 5 through 9. Choir members are using healthy vocal technique, are learning to read music, and can sing 2-3 part music. Con Brio is recognized as a leader within the CCC program. Con Brio often hosts/visits children’s choirs from around the United States, participates in mini-tours and hosts the Queen City Children’s Choir Festival. Reahearsals are on Tuesdays 5:30– 7:00 p.m.

ALLEGRO - CCC’s upper-intermediate choir for children in grades 5 through 8 that have demonstrated understanding and ability at sight-singing and vocal skills. Tuesdays 7:15 – 8:15 p.m.

VIVACE - CCC’s ensemble for children in grades 3 through 5 that are comfortable using their singing voices and singing in parts. Children learn healthy vocal technique, sight-reading skills, and musicianship skills. The choir performs unison to 3-part music.

PICCOLO CORO - CCC’s ensemble that serves as an introduction to choral singing, musicianship, and the philosophies of the program. Children in grades 1 through 4 who have demonstrated the ability to match pitch are introduced to basic note reading, solfege, good vocal technique, and elemental unison and two-part music through choral rehearsals, creative games and activities.

SATELLITE CHOIR PROGRAM is a 10-week, introductory ensemble placed in different venues throughout Greater Cincinnati. Participants share repertoire with other satellite choirs while learning the philosophies and singing habits of CCC.

SUMMER FESTIVAL CHOIR, CCC's late-July summer camp-style event, is non-auditions. Two hundred teacher-recommended singers in grades 3-9, who are interested in enjoying and developing musicianship skills, experience explorative, interactive learning. Sessions include vocal artistry, sight-singing, musicianship through movement, theory, history and choral artistry.
